Wye Valley Wanderer

Some 18 years ago, the Wye valley AONB and Herefordshire Council supported a Sunday bus which was lovingly called the Wye Valley Wanderer. It served Fownhope, Ross, Monmouth and Chepstow; amazingly it became a most unusual Pershore to Lydney service and unfortunately was lost in one of the wave of cuts some years back.  It was, in many respects, a modern day Wye Tour by bus and several of the then regular passengers loved every bit of the ride through a diversity of landscapes.

Now, the Wanderer trip, at least from Hereford to Chepstow, can be re-created thanks to support provided by the AONB. It has plugged the bus gap between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth (34) with a new five a day Sunday/Bank Holiday service that links in with the Hereford-Ross-Gloucester route (32) and also offers onward travel and back via the 69 bus from Monmouth to Tintern and Chepstow. A wide range of money saving day tickets are available on the route and Welsh and English concessionary passes are valid on cross border trips on the 34.
